I guess I’m having a hard time getting my fill of this area, Archangel Valley. All I can really say about it, is that it’s just spatacular, plain and simple. I just need to get out there earlier in the day, instead of between 10 and 11 am, like around 8 or 9 am. If I get there at that time, I’ll have that much more time to hike back in further. There is just something about the area, it’s hard to describe, there are no trees, just openess, with towering mountains on three sides, and the valley on the other. There are old gold mines, quite a few really, scattered about, Beaver damns, water rushing underfoot, yes, underfoot. At times, the water rushing beneath can be almost deafening, and quite unnerving, wondering where it is and if you’ll fall through the ground into the rushing water.
Today I went back further then I have before. I crossed the old Talkeetna Gold Mine Damn, up a bit more, took a turn to head up on top of a hill. Well, this “hill” turns out to be at about 4300 FT, Oh, and what a view.
I got home just before a storm came through. We got some nice hail, thunder and rain.
Anyway, here are a few of the photos I took. Yes, I took another shit load. 🙂
I’ll be post more of the photos in the days to come, and as time allows.
