Okay… I hope this will be the last day of doing this shitty job. My biggest fear is having enough room in the dump trailer, it’s filling up fast. I didn’t sleep well last night due to the fact I kept smelling garbage, it was stuck in my nose, so I need to get this done ASAP.
The other day I called to confirm the dump trailer, as they call it, drop-off and pick-up dates. To my disappointment, they said they could leave the trailer as long as I would have liked due to them needing all trailers to be ready for their spring cleanup program. Bummer! I agreed anyway because I need it and the barn needs to be emptied. So yesterday I on my way to grocery shop, I stopped by to pay for the drop-off and pick-up, in doing so, I asked if there was a chance they could drop off the trailer today (it was Friday) and keep it until next Friday. The girl called her boss and he said yes, Yay. She said they would call before coming and it would be later in the afternoon, that’s fine. I went on to get my groceries and back home to wait for the call. Well time went on until it got to about 4:30 PM without a call, so I tried calling them and got no answer. Crap! Oh well I thought, they’ll bring it tomorrow, Saturday. Right around 5:30 PM I was about to let the dogs in and as I passed the front door, there they were just backing into the drive, Yay. They asked where I’d like it placed so I told them just straight back to the side of the barn. They parked it, and said to call anytime I wanted to have it picked up and off they went.
Now the work, some real shitty work, will begin.
Griz has been going outside the past couple days through the front, unfenced driveway, in fact, he seems quite happy about it. I think he may have had a small stroke that is affecting he leg, he tends to drag it a little, but when he’s outside and moving more, he does swing it a bit and walks better. I know his time here is limited, but I would like him to make it into summer so he can enjoy walking a little in the tall grasses and such, he loves that so much. Now that he’s going out more, he does seem happier.
I don’t know what to do, I’m heart broken. Griz isn’t doing very well. He has problems walking and drags his back left foot. I know the foot was hurting him a while ago, but it seems like he has no control of it, or at least very little. Many times when he steps on it, it’s folded under and he stepping on the top of the foot. He doesn’t want to go outside now either, I think it’s because it’s hard for him to walk on the crusty icy snow. Griz has shit twice now in the house, and now today for the first time he wouldn’t go out after dinner.
I can’t finish this, I’m crying too much…
I didn’t get any snow until yesterday starting at about 5:30AM giving Keweenaw Bay a 24 hour storm total of 16 inches.
This gave us a season total, so far, of 141.5 inches, which is 68.5 inches below the average of 210 inches for this location.
Here just quick pictures of the snow.
As I type this, snow is coming down pretty hard, though it looks like there will be a short break before the real heavy stuff starts. I really like storms, but I don’t care for this much snow so late in the season. Ah well, nothing abnormal for the U.P.
It’s Friday and southern, tip of the mitt, of Michigan should start getting a pretty good snow storm this afternoon, and lasting into Monday with close to two (2) feet of snow. The weather is nowhere near as bad up here in the Keweenaw, as we’re not really getting the snow until Sunday, and then only 6-8 inches. I hope we don’t get any, which is possible, as the system keeps nudging southward.
With that being said, I’m thinking of a little trip around the Keweenaw Peninsula tomorrow, check out the shorelines and such. Sounds like it might be pretty windy Saturday with East winds up to 40 MPH, but that’s an off-shore wind for most the drive.
Anyway, sounds like an idea for the day, we’ll see, and better than just sitting around the house.
