Another day of yard work today. As much as I would like to go out on the two-tracks and waterfalls, I need to get things done around here, that and I don’t have the money.
Today I hope to get the remainder of the leaves and crap picked up, and get my Lupine transplanted.
Yesterday I widened the mowing area by about 50 feet. This is an area that I’ve wanted to get mowed down for some time now, but just haven’t. There’s some really tall grasses that grow in part of the area, over six feet tall.
Also, found the first tick of the season crawling on me. I hate those fuckers! I guess it’s time to put the Deet on before going out in the thicker stuff.
Oh yes, one more thing I need to get done today… Spray the barn with vinegar to help get rid of the smell and to help keep squirrels out.
Nope, not much done today, too tired, didn’t get much sleep. Last night I covered the morning glories with plastic because it was going to get colder than 32°F, and it’s damn good thing I did, as it got down to 28°F. They all seem to look fine today, so I’m thinking that they have gotten over the transplant shock and made it through their first cold night.
Today I did spray around a bit with bug Tick killer. The dump trailer got hauled away, but I have to stop in there tomorrow to pay for the weight, fuck I hope it’s not too much.
The only other thing I did was hang a sign on the barn, a Big Foot Crossing sign. For a couple years now I couldn’t make up my mind where to put it, so today I said the hell with it, and put it on the barn. Ignore the busted ramp, I’ll probably just remove it, I have the back door working now.
Gloomy day, a little rain, lots of clouds and cool temps in the mid 30’s. Not sure what to do today, maybe rake some more, but I do need to get a few more things in the dump trailer and do some more cleanup in the barn. We’ll see.
It looks like my Morning Glories made it through their first night. I hope that’s a good sign.
Okay… I hope this will be the last day of doing this shitty job. My biggest fear is having enough room in the dump trailer, it’s filling up fast. I didn’t sleep well last night due to the fact I kept smelling garbage, it was stuck in my nose, so I need to get this done ASAP.
The other day I called to confirm the dump trailer, as they call it, drop-off and pick-up dates. To my disappointment, they said they could leave the trailer as long as I would have liked due to them needing all trailers to be ready for their spring cleanup program. Bummer! I agreed anyway because I need it and the barn needs to be emptied. So yesterday I on my way to grocery shop, I stopped by to pay for the drop-off and pick-up, in doing so, I asked if there was a chance they could drop off the trailer today (it was Friday) and keep it until next Friday. The girl called her boss and he said yes, Yay. She said they would call before coming and it would be later in the afternoon, that’s fine. I went on to get my groceries and back home to wait for the call. Well time went on until it got to about 4:30 PM without a call, so I tried calling them and got no answer. Crap! Oh well I thought, they’ll bring it tomorrow, Saturday. Right around 5:30 PM I was about to let the dogs in and as I passed the front door, there they were just backing into the drive, Yay. They asked where I’d like it placed so I told them just straight back to the side of the barn. They parked it, and said to call anytime I wanted to have it picked up and off they went.
Now the work, some real shitty work, will begin.
