Getting Tired Of…

Not sleeping! Again and again and again, I’m awake at about 1:30 AM and can’t get back to sleep. The only way I get more sleep is if I get up, drink some coffee, take a shower and then lay down for a nap.
Today I’m back to work after taking last week off for the moving. I still have lots and lots of unpacking to do, and arranging of things. Looks like this week will be a good week to do everything indoors as the forecast is for rain, and heavy rain at that, through Wednesday.
Taking last week off from work eat up some of my PTO that I need to use before I lose it at the end of the year. I still have 10 days to use, so if the weather clears up a bit by the end of the week, I might take Friday off to get some more photos of the Autumn colors.
Here are a few of the photos I took yesterday.

Plans For Today

Once again I was awake a little after 1:00 AM. :/ My back was, and still is, killing me from moving all the heavy stuff yesterday.
Looks like today might be the only dry day for quite a while, cloudy, but no rain. Highs should be in the mid to upper 40s.
With that being said, I need to get all the empty boxes out to the quonset today, along with getting a couple things into the house from the quonset. One reason the house looks so full is due to having so many empty boxes stacked up. Also, while I’m out getting the drier cord, I think I’ll take a drive up to Big Eirk’s Bridge on the Huron River to get some photos of the autumn colors while I can. I thought of, and would like to, drive up into the Keweenaw, but I just don’t have the time. Either way, it will be nice to get out and about for a bit, then I can get back to work I guess.

Well I did end up going out to Big Erick’s Bridge today, right after picking up the dryer cord. I’ll post photos in another post.
Got rid of quite a bit of clutter by taking the empty boxes out to the quonset. Been doing laundry ever since I got back and the power cord was put on. I also got the bird feeders setup and filled, the birds make me happy. Oh, and I made chili, first time using this stove. The works really nice, but one thing, there isn’t a simmer setting on any of the burners. Anyway, I had chili and a salad for dinner.

It’s Done!

The storage unit is empty and everything is either in the house or quonset. Again though, my body is just plain beat up. The washer is running now with it’s first of many loads, but the drier need a different power cord. The drier cord was three pronged for older homes, I need to get a four prong tomorrow, the hardware store closed at 3:00 PM and I got there at 3:20 PM. Bummer!
Now comes the hardest part, more unpacking and arranging of things. It’s kind of tight trying to fit stuff, so we shall see.
The weather held out for the loading and unloading of the truck, though on the way into Houghton to return the truck it was a very heavy mist and felt cold.

I guess the title should say “No Sleep” or “Can’t Sleep”. Not sure what’s up, but I just can’t sleep. I feel super tired so I go to bed only to lay there tossing and turning until I finally give up, get up and make coffee. After a couple cups of coffee and a couple hours, I’m able to sit back in a chair and take a nap, but that’s about all I seem to be able to get. Maybe it’s due to all the stuff running through my head about the things I need or want to do with the house but have no-one to talk to about it…I don’t know. I’m trying to remember when the last time I got a good night’s sleep, but I really can’t remember, I do know it’s been close to, or over, two months.
Ha, I suddenly ran out of thoughts…

Full Day of Unpacking

A cool start to the day at 34° with a rain and snow mix. With my weather station up I can now see what the accurate temp is. It’s suppose to rain most the day, letting up this afternoon, but still wet. So, I’ll be spending most all the day unpacking and getting stuff sorted. I also need to get the living room in order before we haul the rest of my stuff in from storage tomorrow. There are a number of large items coming in tomorrow, so I need to figure out where it’s going to go, though I’m sure I’ll be changing it around later.
One more thing… I need to find one of my tape measures so I can get the size of these windows. The ex-owners had some cheap ass pull-down blinds that I’ve already removed and I want to replace them with curtains.

Stereo Setup

I couldn’t sleep at all for some reason, so I got up and made coffee at 1:00 AM.
The winds are howling and the temp has dropped from 55° when I got up to 42° now at 4:00 AM.
Anyway, I watched a little TV and thought I might as well get something done so I setup my stereo. Connected it to the TV, cable box and turntable. At this time I only have the front speakers (two mains, center and sub) setup. I’m not sure yet where to mount the surround/back speakers. At least now will have music while unpacking.
Today I need to get a handful of things from the truck put into the quonset once there’s daylight, then I have to return the truck. While I’m in town I plan to do some needed shopping.

Got a good chunk of shopping done after returning the truck. Spent more money than expected, but it was all stuff I needed, like a new vacuum. I ended up getting another Shark vacuum, only this one has twice the size canister, so I don’t have to empty it quite as soon.
Other than shopping, I got a little sorted out in the house and got my weather station in a temp location. The weather station isn’t posting to the web yet because Charter doesn’t come to install until the 15th.
I’ll say one more thing…I feel beat up from the moving.
All my bones are broken.
’til next time…Laters

Continue Moving to Menge Creek

As soon as it gets a little light out, I need to empty the truck and head over to get another load, most likely my final load without help for the really heavy stuff.
Today is starting out on the warmish side with temps in the mid 50s. It rained over night, and the forecast is for more rain later today, maybe heavy rain.
So, I need to get the truck unloaded and loaded again before the rain starts up again. Also, I’m thinking, if possible, of returning the truck today and then going shopping. There are so many little things I need to pick up, including food. This ginormous refrigerator I have now is…Empty. I have some dry goods somewhere in a box, just don’t know where yet.
Also, the ex-owners will be by today to get most of their remaining stuff, some in the house, but mostly in the quonset.
We shall see how this day goes.

Well, 90% of my stuff is out of storage and into the house or out building. What is left will be taken care of Saturday when I have help for the really big and heavy things.
Weather wise, it looks like we could have some good storms tonight. Wish I had my weather station up and running now, it will soon though.

Moving Day – Day 1

Today starts out on the cool side again, with a temp in the mid to upper 30s and cloudy skies. The forecast is for some rain this afternoon, but we might be on the very northern edge of the rain, so if it does rain, it shouldn’t be much.
I start moving into the new house today. The main objective is to get as much done as possible to make a path in the storage building to enable me to get to my mattress and get it moved. The move “should” go much smoother and quicker than when I moved out and put everything in to the storage unit. There isn’t really any corners or stairs to haul things up and around. Also, I’ll have the large quonset to put stuff into until I’m ready.
Anyway, it looks to be a very busy few days.

Well, I’m in the new house!
It was a long hard day. First the day started out about 3 hours later than I wanted. Then the kid that was suppose to be helping me was completely worthless. Thankfully Ben came by to help with the mattress’. I figure it will take me a good full day, plus part of the next to get the rest of my stuff out of storage. The large couch, table saw and a couple other things will have to wait until this coming weekend when Ben can come back to help.
The boys are resting as it was real hard on them today also.
