Glacier National Park

Another day another day of travel. That being said, even with rain at times, it was a great day. We left Great Falls at about 10:00 am and arrived in Hungry Horse around 4:00 pm. It was only about 250 miles, but a lot of it was through the Rockies and pulling a trailer with 6000 lb’s we had to go slow in many areas. The weather wasn’t the greatest, but that’s ok, we have 2 full days here in Hungry Horse to explore. We will be going up “Going To The Sun Road” (look it up, you’ll see what it is), tomorrow or the next.

Anyway, the pics for today aren’t the greatest, as are most I’ve taken due to driving and clicking the camera from behide the wheel, scarry at times, hehe haha yahoo.

In other news, it sounds like I’ll be working for LTBB again once we get settled in Alaska. It will be a contract agreement to keep the LTBB Website up-to-date. Helps me out with a bit of money while we get settled, always a good thing eh.

Just a reminder, click the pic to get the bigger picture.

Eastern Montana

I really wish that I could have taken more pictures of this area of Montana, also not while driving. The landscape is unreal to say the least and none of the following photos show what it is really like. At times we were over 5000 ft above sea level (Petoskey is about 900 ft), you wouldn’t know you were that high due to it being all grass lands and such. The name “Big Sky” really fits this area, you can see the landscape and sky for miles and miles. You really do have to see it to believe it! At times it’s as if you are on the moon.

Tomorrow We’ll be heading into the mountains of Montana and for the next 3 days.

This one is for you Eric…

Too tired to type, it was a damn long haul today.

Williston North Dakota

Got up about 6 AM this morning and were driving by about 8 AM arriving in Williston, ND about 7 PM. All in all it was a good drive. Gas prices the whole way have been about 30 pennies cheaper than in Harbor Springs. Lots and Lots of farms through MN and ND. Near Williston the hills are loooooong, like 10 miles long hills. The clouds kept getting closer and closer so I checked my GPS and it said we were at 2538 FT. Made me think right off of Clint Eastwood in High Plains Drifter. Beleave me, these are some high plains!

Bad Start, But Getting Better

The start to our journey was real shit. The trailer was over loaded so the truck couldn’t pull over 40 MPH. We turned back after only a few miles and unloaded some of our stuff and repacked the trailer. Hated to give up some of the things, (snowthrower, gas grill, dinning table, and an old chest) but you have to do what you have to do.

First night (Monday) was to be in Marquette, MI but was just not doable so we went as far as Manistique, MI. We got there about 12:30 AM Tuesday.
We left for Bemidji, MN Tuesday morning, arriving in Bemidji about 10 PM CST.
Leaving for Williston, ND early Thursday morning.

I’m trying to get a pic of every Welcome To … sign.

Below is the “KOA Kabin” we are staying at in Bemidji

I have a thing for water towers.

Anyway, things are looking up from here out.

Until next time,

p.s.
Yes, I’m driving and shotting pictures at the same time.

Holly Crap

Holly Crap, only 1 more day until we hit the road. I have very little time to post, too much to do and it’s 10:30 pm. We are scrambling now to pack and fit every thing we want into the trailer.

One thing I do have to say is; you really find out who your friends are at this time. So many say they’ll help here or there, then when the time comes, poof, no sign of them. Fuck ’em ! This just give me more reason to get the fuck out of here.

My friends, you know who you are, I thank you very very much !

Until next time,
-Ed

10 Days and Counting

Well, it’s just 10 days until we head out. We’re having a party this Saturday to say farewell to friends. We have most of the big items packed in the trailer, though still lots to go. We’ve got our reservations set for the trip west. Most of our stays will be in KOA Kabins.

Sept. 1st, Marquette, MI
Sept. 2nd & 3rd, Bemidji, MN
Sept. 4th, Williston, ND
Sept. 5th, Great Falls, MT
Sept. 6th – 8th, Hungry Horse, MT
Sept. 9th Spokane, WA
Sept. 10th & 11th, Bellingham, WA
Sept. 12th, Board Alaska Marine Highway

Not much more to say, so much to do, so little time.

’till next time

More House Pics

Thought I’d post a couple more pics of our house in AK.

This is a aerial view. Arrow pointing at house.

Back of house again. The old renters look to be pigs.
