I needed to get out and away from the house yesterday, so I took a quickish drive-about. I’ve drive this route many times, and it’s always beautiful in the winter. Drove up Arvon Rd. and around to Silver Rd. then Indian Rd. and out to the Herman area. After a good snowfall, it’s a wonderful drive.

Freighters in the Bay
After defrosting the car from an inch of snow on top of an inch of frozen rain and graupel mix, I head to to store for a few groceries. On the way I noticed three freighters in the bay taking refuge from the storm. Knowing I wouldn’t be able to get much of a photo from shore to include all three, I decided to fly the drone up from the house and see what I could get.

Things… And Frank
Meet Frank, Frank the Fox Squirrel. This Fox Squirrel has been coming by for a few weeks now, but this is the first time I’ve gotten a photo of him. It’s nice to have another type of squirrel around here besides the damn Red Squirrels.
In other news… This past Wednesday was my boss’ last day at work. We’ve known each other for many years, worked together for many years and at two different places of work. We’ve gone through quite a bit together, work wise and personal. He will be missed.
A long awaited, as in years, update to our employee handbook has been published and becomes effective January 1st. The following is from the handbook about Teleworking, which involves me big time. The yellow text makes me feel a little better about my position.
“Teleworking, or telecommuting, is the concept of working from home or another location on a full- or part-time basis. Teleworking is not a formal, universal employee benefit. Rather, it is an alternative method of meeting the needs of the organization. LTBB has the right to mandate or refuse teleworking requests.
LTBB’s policies for teleworking are as follows:
1. Compensation and Work Hours: The employee’s compensation, benefits, work status and work responsibilities will not change due to participation in the teleworking program. The amount of time the employee is expected to work per day or pay period will not change as a result of participation in the teleworking program.
2. Eligibility: Successful teleworkers have the support of their supervisors. Employees will be selected based on the suitability of their jobs, an evaluation of the likelihood of their being successful teleworkers, and an evaluation of their supervisor’s ability to manage remote workers. Each department will make its own selections.
3. All teleworkers must sign a work agreement.”
Also, this past week I’ve had a couple conversations, work related and just general talk, with my new boss, though he is only interim I believe he will have some pull. He seems like quite a nice guy and we seem to get long quite well. So that’s good. This also makes me feel a little better about my job.
Been in a Funk
I’ve been out and about a little over the past few weeks, but haven’t posted anything due to being in quite a downward fuck. Just not feeling good about life.
So… without going into much, here are the photos and videos I’ve taken.
Point Abbaye
Yesterday I was going to stay home and try to get a couple things done, but it was way too nice out so I headed out to Point Abbaye. It was a nice sunny day with little to no wind, so I thought it was be a good day to fly the drone around the point. I really miss being able to hike around, but with the way my hip is, all I can do is stand in one place.
Busy and Other Stuff
And once again I haven’t posted in a while… bad me. I seem to post my photos and videos on Facebook, but neglect my blog. Pure laziness. We haven’t had much snow yet this year, which is quite unusual, so everything is a drab brown and not very pretty. So I haven’t been out taking photos and such much at all. I plan on getting out and about next week as I have three days off from work plus the weekend giving me 5 days.
Also, work has been putting me in quite a down mood. One, they are having some company develop a new website and not evolving me, not at all, nothing. Then two, my boss just put in his notice and I’m really worried what is going to happen now.
Anyway, here are some photos and videos I have taken over the past couple weeks in order of oldest to newest.
First Snow
Last Sunday we had our first proper snowfall. Drove out to Big Erick’s Bridge, it was snowing pretty good while I was there. I had plans to fly the drone around, but no dice in the heavy snow, so I took a couple photos from the bridge. I then drove out to the Slate River on Arvon Rd hoping to fly the drone there. The snow was falling much lighter there so I did fly it for a bit. It was quite tricky flying with all the low hanging branches, took me three attempts to make it without the drone’s object detection stopping the drone. The object detection can be turned off, but I’m not confident enough to fly without it. I don’t want to crash and wreck my drone, even if I do have insurance on it.
This past week was my first full week of work, without taking some days off, in over two months. The full week didn’t really feel much different, as most my days off I end up working some anyway.
This weekend I not doing much at all. Yesterday was super windy, though it did turn out quite nice with temps in the low 50s. Today, well, it’s a snowy one. Forecast is for up to 6 inches of snow and lots of wind. What snow that does fall today will melt away during the week, we should be getting some nice warm days ahead with temps up into the 60s.
Time Flies
I can’t believe it’s been so long since my last post…Yikes.
Well, Autumn colors are over with here, now just leafless trees. We’ve had some snow, but here at the house not much. I do have about an inch on the ground this morning, but that’s sure to melt through the day.
Anyway, I guess I just post some photos and videos I’ve taken since my last post.
