Work and Photos

Well, once again I’ve missed posting things… Damnit.

Let’s go in order of the title.
Work – Today I posted an RFQ for our website at work (Website Design & Development Request for Qualification). This has always been my job. I’m quite upset about this and have asked my boss why, but the only answer I ever get is, “I don’t know the reason”. I have been kept completely out of the loop, told or asked nothing. At this point, I don’t know what the fuck to do. Should I make an appointment with our chairperson? Last time I tried talking with my bosses boss, I just got pushed up. I have, and have had, a website started since the first of the year and have asked my boss to see what people think, but once again, nothing. No input what so ever. I understand I will be keeping my job to maintain the site, but I know the damn thing inside and out, so who better to make another one. Anyway, I’m quite distraught about this.
Photos – I have a few to being uploaded for this post, photos and videos, from the past week or so.

Stormy Week

The first week of  September, also the start of meteorological fall, has been a stormy one to say the least. Labor Day brought four tornadoes, yes four, three were F1 and one was F0. I believe that one of the F1’s have been upgraded to a very rare F2, very rare for Michigan. Even F1’s are pretty rare as far north as they were. The remainder of the week was quite stormy as well, with large amounts of rain, lots of thunder and lightning, and more strong winds causing damage to trees.

One phenomenon that happened Thursday morning in Petoskey was a Seiche. To learn more about the seiche phenomenon, head to the NOAA website. Seiches are not uncommon in the Petoskey and Harbor Springs area, but this one was much larger than most, reported as high as 6 feet. As I said, that was in the morning, later the same day the storms hit Harbor Springs pretty hard with 6 foot waves causing quite a bit of damage.
At the bottom of this post is a video of the storm damage in Harbor Springs.

During the same storm Thursday, the 1004 foot MV American Spirit freighter was pushed by winds and got stuck in the Round Island passage off of Mackinac Island.

With all the storms starting September off, the last day of August was beautiful. Dawn and I went to Sturgeon Bay for a wonderful sunset.

Very colorful rain cloud passing just to our north.
