Quick Walk Around The Hay Flats

I didn’t plan on doing much today. The weather called for mostly cloudy with rain showers. So.when I got up I looked outside and saw the wonderful warm sun. Grabbed the dogs and headed out to the Palmer Hay Flats. We didn’t stay out there long, just wanted to get some photos and let the dogs have a run. Besides, it’s a wet land and you really can’t walk all that far anyway. Spent about an hour there then headed back home to do some laundry.

Drive Out The Glenn

So today I took a drive out the Glenn. I haven’t gone out past Sutton in 2 years. The weather held out most the trip, but snows a bit on my way back near King Mountain. On the way out I took a turn that looked interesting. This road lead me to Bonnie Lake, and what a nice little lake it is.

Bonnie Lake. Still iced over due to it being at about 3000FT.

Something More Pleasant / The Rest of The Day

After leaving the dump ground of Goose Bay I head out toward Point MacKenzie. The area is a nice pleasant farming area. I was looking for a road, or trail, that would lead me to the south side of Point MacKenzie, but never found it. I took a couple side roads that lead past some quite nice ranches and farm lands. There were some great views of Susitna Mountain and Mt. Spurr. Mt Spurr is a stratovolcano in the Aleutian Volcanic Arc. Didn’t get any photos of the two together though, just Mt Spurr and Mt Susitna / Sleeping Lady by them selves.

Goose Bay – Dumping Grounds of The Mat-Su

Garbage, trash, unwanted cars, refrigerators, washers, driers, you name it, Goose Bay has it. Why I ask? Why the fuck can’t people just take their stuff to the transfer station? Can’t afford it? Get a fucking job! Too lazy? Well you sure worked hard at getting to where it is now. Or maybe you are just simply one big fucking dirt bag that is wasting my air, and all others that care about where they live. You sure the fuck don’t! You, the ones that are pitching all this crap, why don’t you just put a gun to your head. At lease something might eat you, nothing sure the fuck can’t eat anything you all have been throwing out.

And NO, this was not the only area I saw this. Every, and I mean EVERY, trail/dirt road I turned on had dumping grounds. Not only dumping grounds, but shit littered all along the roads. These motherfuckers have no right breathing air. It’s not just one or two either. there are lots of you assholes.

I only took this one picture of the shit I saw today. A beautiful beach that some ass licking fuck wads ruined.

Turning Green

Well last night, guess it was really this morning, I worked a graveyard shift, 1am to 9:30am. This isn’t a normal thing, just once in a great while, but when I got out of work, instead of going to sleep, I headed out with the dogs for a bit. We headed over to Palmer then Jim Lake area. Last time I was there snow was still on the ground. Today though, all the snow was gone and all the ice was off the lakes. I was too tired to do much hiking about, so I just found a nice spot and took in the view.

Things are really greening up around here. With some rain a few days ago, every bud is a poppin’.

If you watch the weather here with my station, you’ll notice the temps are off. I’m having some issues.

Quick Day Out

Finally had a chance to get out after working the past 10 days. Didn’t really do much, I’ll wait until tomorrow for that, but I did head up to Hatcher Pass for a bit.

The leaves on the trees are starting to “spring” out now. Ice is off Lake Wasilla and the beach is full, though no swimming yet. Temps have been in the upper 50’s on cloudy days and upper 60’s on sunny days. And, the biggest chance is the amount of daylight we have. We are still gaining about 6 minutes per day, with sunset not until about 10:20pm, but twilight lasts until about min-night.
